Hey Folks,
I’m sending this e-mail to the local members of the CBMYC that I had personal knowledge of. If you know of someone else who is a local, please let me know and pass along this message.
I’m committed to organizing monthly sail outs for the club during 2022 even if it's just me sitting on the dock with a couple of RC Laser sailboats and flyers. We must keep this up if we are going to grow our membership and enjoy sailing our fantastic RC boats. No organized racing just us having fun. I’ll bring a chase boat, dock, buoys, and a boat monkey to help anyone with anything needed. We’ll meet at our regular sailing location on the Corpus Christi Sea Wall, at the North end of Water’s Edge Park, 60 S Shoreline Blvd Corpus Christi, TX 78401. This location offers great wind direction, clear waterways, few distractions, and fantastic free parking. Come on out and bring a friend!
Here is a map:
This is the proposed sailing schedule:
- Saturday, March 19th, 12-3pm
- Saturday, April 16th, 12-3pm
- Saturday, May 21st, 12-3pm
- Saturday, June 18th, 12-3pm
- Saturday, July 16th, 12-3pm
- Saturday, August 20th, 12-3pm
- Saturday, September 17th, 12-3pm
- Saturday, October 15th, 12-3pm
- Saturday, November 19th, 12-3pm
- Saturday, December 17th, 12-3pm
I would love to hear your thoughts. Please feel free to send me an e-mail or call by phone.

Here is some other news that you might be interested in:
The Coastal Bend Model Yacht Club website has been down, but I intend to revive it by Spring. Till then, club information, news, and other activities will be listed on our Facebook group site: Coastal Bend Model Yacht Club | Facebook
I have taken the steps necessary to keep our long-standing annual regatta alive this year. The 6th Annual Saltwater Challenge will be held on February 26th and 27th. It will not be the biggest regatta but fun all the same. It would be great if you guys could come out and race, talk, or just watch. It’s totally up to you.
The Rockport YC will be hosting their Annual Nautical Flea Market on May 7-8th, 2022. In past years we’ve reserved a booth space and ran mini practice/races from the back deck of the clubhouse. This helped us gain at least 2 members and I’d like to try it again. If you are interested in helping or participating, please let me know.
Before we began sailing the RC Laser, our original club boat was the Victoria. It was limited to 1 set of sails and was easily overpowered in our heavy Coastal Bend winds. Starting this year, the Victoria class has approved 2 additional sail suit sizes allowing us to now sail in heavier winds. This is a great opportunity for our Victoria sailors who might want to revitalize the fleet. The Victoria can now confidently be sailed in any weather mother nature can through at us.
The DF95 is a new class of RC boat which has been sweeping the nation and world. Its as inexpensive to get started with as an RC Laser and much easier to handle and master. Commadore Mike and I both now have DF95’s and I’ll make sure to bring one along to our sail outs for show and sail.
I’d love to hear your thoughts.
Please shoot me an e-mail or phone call.
