What a great day on the water. The new sailing location at the “L” head by Cooper’s Alley proved to be an outstanding choice.
Access couldn’t be better — we’re able to back vehicles right up to the water, which makes launching and retrieving the boats about as easy as it gets. There’s also plenty of room for pop-up tents and chairs, so we can set up comfortably for longer sail days. While launching the chase boat isn’t ideal right from the “L” head, it is manageable using the nearby boat ramp.
The weather was absolutely fantastic. We had a magnificent, steady breeze that let us run C-rigs up and down the channel all afternoon — about as good as it gets for sailing conditions.
Today it was just myself and William Ramlo, but even so, we had at least three people stop by to talk and show interest in what we’re doing. That’s always a good sign and speaks well for the visibility of this new spot.
All in all, a very successful outing and a strong case for making this a regular sailing location.
Our next sail is scheduled for April 18th — the third Saturday of the month. Hope to see a bigger group out there.
