For safety reasons, we are cancelling today’s sail out.
As of 7:00 AM this morning, the forecast is calling for a 78% chance of rain at 11:00 AM, increasing to 100% at both noon and 1:00 PM. This is shaping up to be a significant rain event affecting much of the Coastal Bend region.
Driving in these conditions is challenging enough, but setting buoys and handling equipment around open water when lightning may be present is simply not worth the risk. Electronics can be damaged, and chasing down boats during a thunderstorm is not something we want anyone doing.
We all enjoy sailing, but there isn’t much fun in standing in a downpour while wondering where the next lightning strike might land.
We’ll regroup and plan another sail out date, which will be announced early next week.
Thank you for your understanding, and we look forward to seeing everyone on the water soon—preferably under sunny skies and a steady breeze!
Stay safe, everyone.
