PREVIOUS CLUB SAIL OUT:
This past April 16th we held our regular monthly sail out at #60 S Shoreline Blvd, on the Corpus Christi Sea Wall steps overlooking the beautiful Corpus Christi harbor and bay. It was a comfortable day in the 70’s with 15 knots of wind out of the southeast making for perfect windward/ leeward racing. Our fearless commodore Mike Causey set out buoys and 5 RC Lasers sped around the racecourse. We had a couple of new fellows’ express interest in our RC Lasers and Club and hopefully they will become new members soon! Here is a link to our write-up and photos from the sail out: https://www.facebook.com/groups/CBMYC/permalink/5489436764418111/. Special thanks to the following sailors who participated: Mike Causey, Lauren Causey, Barry Beuershausen, William Gregory, and Eric Gregory.
NEXT REGULAR CLUB SAIL OUT:
Saturday, May 21st from 12-3pm is our next scheduled club sail out in Corpus Christi. This is about local RC sailors and friends getting together and sailing. No organized racing just us having fun. Bring your RC Lasers, DF95s and/or any other boat you are fond of, and we will have a fun afternoon playing with our toys. The club will provide a chase boat, buoys, and a boat monkey to help anyone with anything needed. Just plan to show up and play! We will meet at our regular sailing location on the Corpus Christi Sea Wall, at the North end of Water’s Edge Park, 60 S Shoreline Blvd Corpus Christi, TX 78401. This location offers great wind direction, clear waterways, few distractions, and fantastic free parking. Come on out and bring a friend!

SPECIAL ACTIVITIES:
Rockport Nautical Flea Market - I am happy to announce that the Coastal Bend Model Yacht Club (CBMYC) will have a fun-sail during this year’s Rockport Yacht Club (RYC) Nautical Flea Market, Saturday, May 7th, 2022. We will sail from RYC’s dinghy dock which is connected to their clubhouse’s back porch! The Nautical Flea market is always a wonderful time but being able to RC Sail there too will be over the top fun! This is a fantastic opportunity to share our sport with fellow sailors and sailors at heart! Up to 3,000 people visit this fair each year so our exposure to interested parties is guaranteed. We will have a booth filled with flyers about the RC Laser and where to buy, the CBMYC, the American Model Yacht Association (AMYA), and other interesting topics. CBMYC got its start in Rockport years ago with a plan to cater to the six county Coastal Bend region of Texas. During the past few years, we have concentrated on Corpus Christi due to its fantastic RC Sailing Stadium, but we have not forgotten our roots! Rockport is a wonderful place to RC Sail, and we would love to see activity heat up there again! Please consider dropping by, and if possible, bring a friend!
- The Alamo Classic RC Laser Regatta – The Woodlawn Sailing Club in San Antonio annually puts on a terrific RC Laser Regatta with 20 or more boats competing. We encourage everyone to make the 2-hour ride north and participate in this fantastic competition. If possible, carpool with one or more of your local club members and be prepared to eat. Woodlawn has a motto of “no one goes home hungry” and they live up to their motto!
MIKE GALE:
On 3/31 our longtime Friend and Club Treasurer, Mike Gale, crossed the great finish line. His passing will long leave an empty place on our starting line as he was truly a wonderful person. His love of RC sailing and happiness at being with his friends set him apart. Just a month before his passing Mike insisted that his daughter Ann bring him to the marina so he could be with us at the Saltwater Challenge, RC Laser Regatta. Once there he was all smiles and ready to take on the world!
