Sail Out in Cuero, TX on Sunday, January 29th, 2017

The NW breeze was gusty enough during the afternoon that we put away the 4 Victoria’s and pulled out the RC Lasers. 11 RC Lasers then zipped across Lake Cuero on this beautiful winter 70-degree day. Great thanks to Mike C and Mike G who brought hot dogs with fixings and to Larry for firing up the charcoal grill and cooking for the group. Happy to see our friends from Austin: JK, Teresa, Vicky and Ben, and from San Antonio, Ray and Sylvia who all made the short 1.5 hr. trip down to Cuero. From the Coastal Bend MYC were Larry, Kathy, Eric, Lea, William, Mike C, Mike G, and Guest.

Cuero Lake is a wonderful place to sail and we at the CBMYC are seriously considering a Victoria regatta at this location as soon as the typical SE wind pattern returns in the spring.

We are now 3 weeks from the THE INAUGURAL, SALT WATER
CHALLENGE – RC LASER REGATTA scheduled for Saturday, February 18th, 2017. We currently have 9 registered skippers and 2 pending. Come join us and help make this the biggest Texas RC Laser Regatta’s ever!!!

Sail Out This Sunday (1/29/2017) in Cuero, TX.

This Sunday’s (1/29) sail out in Cuero, TX is shaping up to be quite an event.  Mike & Larry are planning to bringing hot dogs, buns, soft drinks to have a cook out on one of the grills next to the water.    We will be sailing RC Lasers and Victoria but anything goes.  The weather is set to be sunny and warm at 70 degrees with a 10mph NW breeze flowing across the manicured golf course lawns which surround the lake.  This is one of the most laid back places I’ve seen for having a sailing event.  You simply pull your car up to a covered patio and unload your gear.  I often back my truck right down to the water’s edge so that I don’t have to unpack at all.  Everything we could possibly need is right at our finger tips including bathrooms, covered patios with pick-nic tables, clean trashcans, b-b-q grills, paved parking and all of this is set right up against a handsome sailing pond.  There’s a Walmart store ¼ mile away and no crowds.  So if you are up to a short drive through some of Texas’ most scenic country and open to spending a lazy day in the shade sailing RC boats let it be known that there is a standing invitation to you for this and all Coastal Bend sail outs where ever they may be.

For those who have yet to see the Facebook post, we have officially released the Notice of Race (N.O.R.) for the long anticipated Green Chevron, RC Laser Regatta to be held in Corpus Christi, TX.   The date has been set for Saturday, February 18th, 2017 and yes, this will be an easy laid back 1 day Regatta.  Hopefully many of our RC Laser friends in the area will attend and help us make this an annual event.  Special thanks are owed to Laura Jasso, Special Events Program Manager for the City of Corpus Christi and Peter Davidson, Marina Superintendent for the City of Corpus Christi for their outstanding support of our event and club.    If you plan to attend please fill out the registration on the N.O.R. and e-mail it back to me at  Here is the link to the N.O.R.:

Best Regards,
